Why I Create

From the moment I first held a camera, I knew it held power. My path wasn’t chosen, it chose me. As a child, I saw magic everywhere. The way light slanted through leaves, the stories etched into a stranger’s hands, the quiet dignity of a life fully lived. But it was in Indonesia, lost on a motorbike, that I understood the true weight of an image. A wrong turn led me to a family farm, where I was welcomed as kin. Over dinner, I shared Polaroids film printouts with them. The father asked for a photo of his dying father. That single frame became their only portrait of him, a tangible piece of his soul to hold after he was gone.

That moment taught me: A photograph isn’t just a record. It holds essence. In a culture of empty images, I choose to create stories that evoke the miracle of life.
